Greetings from Singapore!

Hi Ladies, Janine Rembas here. I want to thank you Jen for the invite. I need the support too. Unfortunately I don't have email at home and I need to be working at work, but I'll get on when I can. Maybe I can print the text from the blog and read it on my commute. Sharing your struggles helps me to hang onto hope. I'm not alone.

When I was in Ecuador I worked really hard and got down to a size 8 (sometimes even 6). At 143 pounds I was actually a little too thin - it made me look older believe it or not - and I really stabilized around 150. Then November of 2006 I suddenly didn't have any energy. Stopped going to the gym, started eating more than I needed. Six months later I'm 50 pounds up! That's when I found out my thyroid had stalled. So onto meds I go. BUT my foot blew out and I needed surgery and have only just recovered from all that...another 11 pounds up. So I left for Singapore the end of January at a whopping 211 pounds. You all know how bad you feel with your weight up but imagine that happening when it's the dead of winter (summer clothes aren't in the stores yet) and you are headed to a tropical climate. I ended up at Goodwill to try to find some clothes so I didn't have to come here naked. Can you say, "Boy that's ugly"? Weird as it sounds, looking ugly makes me want to comfort eat. Catch 22.

So I started getting a grip since I've been here. I'm down to 200 pounds. I'm walking without pain so it's time to do more physical activity. My goal weight would be 155.

Thanks again for the invitation to join you all.
Sweating in Singapore,
Janine
